Fort
Myers
Fort Myers is located on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River and the Gulf
of Mexico. Water sports, golf, museums, concerts, theater, history, and dining
are some of the many activities enjoyed by all.
The famous McGregor
Boulevard contains over a mile of royal palms planted along both sides
giving Fort Myers the name "City of Palms".
Inventor Thomas Edison spent winters at his home on
McGregor Boulevard. Over 5,000 Royal Palms line the street making
Fort Myers the "City of Palms". Thomas
Edison's
friend Henry Ford had a winter home next to his. Both homes are open
to visitors. Tour the homes along with botanical gardens, Edison's
laboratory, and museum at the Thomas
Edison and Henry Ford Winter Estates.
The Haborside Convention Center,
located in historic district of beautiful downtown Fort Myers, provides
the setting for m any
concerts and conventions.
The Alliance of the Arts, located on McGregor Boulevard, features
local artists and art exhitions. Concerts and live theatrical performances
are given in the outdoor amphitheater.
Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts
Hall and Gallery hosts many Broadway musicals, entertainers, and concerts
on the campus of Edison Community College.
